Enjoy the Mediterranean culture and gastronomy living a unique and interactive experience in a typical fishing village of the province of Alicante. Campello Experience offers the opportunity to know and enjoy the essence of this Mediterranean region accompanied by professional guides and experts in wines and the more characteristic fishes of Alicante.
5pm – 5:30pm: VISIT TO LA ILLETA ARCHEOLOGICAL SITE
First of all, we will visit the Illeta dels Banyets or Queen’s Baths: located on a small peninsula, at the bottom of the Watch Tower, these archaeological sites are undoubtedly the most important remains with more than 5,000 years old. The visit will focus on the gastronomic aspects of Roman times. This site belongs to the Provincial Archaeological Museum of Alicante (MARQ), declared the best museum in Europe in 2004.
5:30pm – 5:40pm: WALK TO THE FISH MARKET
During the walk through the Marina, our tour guide will explain the history of El Campello.
5:40pm – 6:20pm: AUCTION IN THE FISH MARKET
The history of El Campello has always been linked to the sea and fishing. We highly recommend visiting the market, where the fresh fish auction and direct retail sale take place on weekdays. You can find high quality products with an excellent price. During this so unique and traditional activity we will participate in the auction and buy seafood to cook then in a special stove.
6:20pm – 6:30pm: DEPARTURE TO A WINERY
6:30pm – 7:15pm: WINE TASTING
While our chef brings the seafood to the kitchen, we will stroll the streets to the declared in 2003 as the best winery in Spain, where we will taste exclusive and exquisite wines. We will practice a wine tasting and have the opportunity to see the oldest wine in history and the more expensive too.
7:15pm – 7:30h: TRANSFER TO THE KITCHEN
7:30pm – 8:45pm: LET’S START COOKING
Our Tourism and Culinary Training Center of El Campello is exclusively open for you. Our expert chef will teach us the culinary knowlege in order to enjoy the quality of seafood previously auctioned. This experience consists of cooking by our own typical dishes from the gastronomy of El Campello, based mainly on fish and seafood of the season.
8:45pm – 11pm: APPETIZER + DINNER
Once the menu has been prepared, it is time for the tasting: our cook, who has previously made us part of the elaboration and taught us how to combine flavors, textures, will present the menu we have prepared. This menu, accompanied by a good wine, will be the icing on the cake for this unique Mediterranean experience.
